How busy we can get these days, yet seem to find time to read news articles, blogs, the Facebook posts, our email . . . .

BUT . . . . HOW MANY PROFESSING CHRISTIANS SPEND TIME READING GOD’S BLOG. . . THE BIBLE?

DO WE TRULY LOVE THE LORD?

WHY AREN’T WE READING HIS LOVE LETTERS TO US . . . .THE BIBLE?

THE BIBLE IS NOT JUST THERE TO GATHER DUST. . .

or maybe drag it out once in a while to read Psalm 91 and “claim it” when the times get horrific . . . and that won’t work, by the way, unless we have a TRUE, intimate, clean walk with JESUS . . . it’s abiding in Him and walking with Him . . . it’s obeying Him. . . it’s a relationship with HIM . . . DAILY.

THE BIBLE IS THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT  (Ephesians 6:17) . . .

. . . and MANY PROFESSING CHRISTIANS DON’T EVEN PICK IT UP!!!

Hebrews 4:12
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

HOW CAN WE KNOW THE LORD JESUS, IF WE DON’T READ HIS WORD?

TIME TO REPENT . . . SEEK THE LORD JESUS FULLY. . . READ THE BIBLE DAILY. . . AND FOLLOW THE LEADING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. . .

TIME IS MUCH SHORTER THAN MOST KNOW AND TODAY MAY BE THE DAY YOU STEP INTO ETERNITY. . .  ARE YOU READY TO FACE THE KING of Kings and THE LORD of Lords, JESUS CHRIST?

PLEASE NOTE: ANY ADS LOCATED ON MY BLOGS ARE NOT MY CHOICE, NOR DO I ENDORSE ANY OF THE THEM. . . I have a free account from WordPress, which may place ads of their choosing on my posts. I suppose it’s a good example of “you get what you pay for”. Currently “free” is all I can afford, but THANK YOU JESUS, I’m able to do this at all.

  1. It can get quite wearisome, but Jesus faced the same thing when He walked this earth. . . and so do we as His people. One day? ALL of this will be gone . . and only those who truly LOVE Jesus will remain.

  2. Amen! Sometimes I get so mad at people who mock our Lord. But then I remember: At the name of Jesus EVERY knee will bow and EVERY tongue will confess that Jesis is LORD!!! It would go a whole lot smoother for the mockers if they would shut their mouths and do it now, versus later. Our God is a jealous God, and will not give His glory to another.

  3. AMEN and Blessings to you, Peggy.

p.s., internet search for the “address” of Scriptures is GREAT . . . I may know the verses, but not the addresses (but I’m that way when I drive too, LOL) 😉

  4. YES! They are the Romans Scriptures, and I can see you know exactly what I was alluding to.

Your “tangent” was very relevant and correct.
I agree with everything and it was all well said…….
    AND
No one should “MOCK the Holy LORD JESUS and His people.”

‘Cause we have a choice: We can do it God’s way OR do it God’s way.
BUT, we WILL do it GOD’S WAY!

    God BLESS!

  5. Hello Peggy,

You’re referring to the following Scriptures, that the wolves-in-sheeps-clothing “pastors” will misuse to talk their congretations into going into the FEMA camps and going along with evil governmental authority, that goes against the LORD Jesus:
    Romans 13:1
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

    Romans 13:5
Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.

We are NEVER to follow ungodly authority . . just like Daniel did NOT bow down to the King, nor should we bow down to ungodliness.

Some of those wolves-in-sheeps-clothing “pastors” are already embracing the same sex unions (no marriage, because marriage is a God-ordained and blessed institution between one man and one woman). . these demonic unions are manifestations of “sodom and gomorrah” . . . and it shows we are ALREADY under judgement.

Romans 1:24-25 – “Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.…”

    Welcome to “Mystery Babylon” . . . Revelation 17 & 18

Sorry . . . I went off on a tangent, but have been shown multiple sins and wickedness in our country that makes me absolutely amazed at the patience of the Heavenly Father to hold back the full force of judgement, so even one more can enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. A time is coming VERY SOON. . .when that wave will be unleashed, because the masses still slumber or worse? MOCK the Holy LORD JESUS and His people.

  6. I’m in total agreement with all of the above. Well said….

Also, I believe we need to watch for the deception of satan’s minions quoting Scripture out of context to to support evil agendas. There is one about submitting to (government) authority, which I believe is perfect instruction, given that the government is not involved in an evil agenda.

Remember that satan quoted part of Psalm 91 to Jesus when He was in the wilderness. Jesus responded all three times with “It is written,” and squelched him with the sharp two-edged sword of the WORD. When satan tried to “pull” an “it is written” (part of Psalm 91) on Jesus, for one of those times, it DIDN’T WORK! Jesus knew the entire letter and Spirit of THE WORD perfectly!

  8. We’re going to get our spiritual bottoms kicked by deception in demonic forces, Jolie, if we don’t know the Bible . . . it’s the Sword of the Spirit. Jesus used the written Word to rebuke satan. Without the Written Word of Truth . . . MANY will fall away and believe lies . . . just like right now in the sugar-coated, feel-good, woo-hoo, happy-happy superficial Sunday Social Clubs that are “Churchians”.

I believe more may be like me, where I have the Bible in my heart, but truly I have to look up where a particular passage is . . you can say using God’s “GPS” to find the “address” 🙂
The main point is to have that written Word tucked in our hearts, then the Holy Spirit can and will bring that to our minds to minister to us and to others. We can’t have it “tucked in our heart” unless we read it or at least listen to it on audio Bible (which is a really good way as well, especially if people have difficulty reading, or sight impairments).

  10. Amen, Peggy on all that you said. Here’s a Scriptural reference, with some comments below that:

1 Corinthians 14:13-15 – “…13Therefore let one who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. 14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15What is the outcome then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the mind also; I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the mind also.”

For any who read this reply, I don’t call myself a “Pentecostal” or “Charismatic” or any other label other than a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, who believes in ALL of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

How do I view “praying in the Spirit”? It’s like “code language” that goes straight up to the throne room of Heaven that no demonic force, human/demon hybrid, astrally-projected human spirit or other can intercept. My spirit, yields to the Holy Spirit and the prayer languages goes forth. I generally pray that way silently, inside my heart; it keeps me connected to the LORD and this helps me hear that “still small voice” which has carried me through the most difficult situations, as well as to minister to people.

Another analogy . . . it’s like going from an old Western gun (praying with ‘understanding’ or “the mind”), that yes, can shoot bullets, to a lazer weapon (praying in the Spirit, or “praying in tongues”) that more accurately hits the target each time.

  12. I have so enjoyed reading everyone’s posts today. What a blessing. God’s Word is truly incredible – no words of mine can suffice. I will say that I have been amazed – so many times – at how God will use His Word to “jump out” to me and is totally applicable to exactly what I’m going through or need guidance with at that very moment! I find that sometimes I read a few chapters a day, and other times I really need to focus on one chapter, or a part of one chapter, to really digest what I’m reading. If only all of God’s people valued the Word like you all do – the Church would be far more healthier and effective!! God bless you each today.

  13. Linda, about your post that includes the “Warning Dream about Reading the Bible in the U.S.”, you had something about Praying in the Spirit….. Now THAT is something that I need to do MUCH more often!
…..I think it’ll be very important in the coming times, therefore, something to DO NOW. (A person doesn’t learn to swim when the boat is sinking).

I truly believe in your warning dream mentioned above. It also wouldn’t be a bad idea to MEMORIZE some key Scriptures……Psalm 91, Psalm 23, and maybe some that have to do with both persecution and provision…….whatever one is led to by the Holy Spirit.

  14. Thank you, Peggy. I hope I didn’t give the impression I felt it was “religious” for anybody to go through the Bible, cover-to-cover . . if so, I’m sorry about that, because that’s not the case.

For me, I know I have be be carefully following the leading of the Holy Spirit even in something like that, because many times when I try or tried to do something that most Christians would consider “a good thing to do” . . . it seemed to backfire. Here are two examples:

~ I tithed faithfully . . .and ended up in bankruptcy.
~ I wanted to do a full-blown, on my face in the carpet prayer before the LORD . . what happened? My mind wandered so badly I finally got up and started doing the dishes. . THEN intercession hit, with focus on the things of the LORD.

The lesson I learned: Be led by the Holy Spirit in ALL things. About tithing. . . Jesus doesn’t want a measly 10% . . He wants 100% of EVERYTHING if we are truly following Him. Give as the Holy Spirit leads, not out of a religious spirit. It may be give that money to a poor widow. . . or lay down everything to serve Him 100% of the time, without pay.

And prayer . . . anytime . . . we can “pray in the Spirit” while doing the dishes, cooking, walking in the hallway at work.

About the book you shared: “saturation” is good . .. we need the Written Word tucked into our hearts because the day IS COMING when it will be illegal to own a Bible and yes, I’m talking about “Western Nations”.

Here’s the warning dream I was given in the 1990s:

  15. Linda,

Yes, the Lord whispered out of the blue one day, “The truth will set you free!” Immediately, the scripture, “Thy Word is truth,” John 17:17 came to mind. So the Lord emphasized to me that His Word sets us free.

  16. I agree that it should be “alive and real, rather than an exercise in religious activity.” In addition, I would like to add that I sincerely wouldn’t have been able to do this nearly 8 times in the past three years if it was just a religious exercise. It would’ve become “dry,” I would’ve lost interest, and given up.

Thankfully, the WORD is ALIVE, LIVING and ACTIVE!

I know that I have gotten BLESSED spiritually beyond measure several notable times since 2012.
I know the connection is directly to “saturation” of THE WORD in less than 90 days.

  17. Well, whatever you’re doing, Linda, keep it up! Your awesome FRUIT is OBVIOUS! I consider you an awesome teacher and guide to the Body of Christ!

Also, I just wanted to make one “foot note” regarding the author of “Heaven Rules” mentioned in my post above. I know her personally. The Lord put us together, although we are in 2 separate far-away states and had never met each other previously……it was a Divine appointment for me to support her in the writing of that book, while at the same time, being helped immensely! (THANK-YOU, LORD!)

She is not “religious” in any sense of the word. She is all about having a dynamic personal relationship with the Lord. She has had many awesome experiences with the Lord, as Linda (the host of this blog) has had.

I don’t want to give-away the contents of the book, but I will say that the Lord gave her the word “saturation”— the importance of being saturated in HIS WORD.

God bless. I really like this blog. My discernment indicates that it is GOOD!

  18. That sounds excellent, Nathan! I found that reading through the WORD has helped so very much in my discernment, too. That is so important, especially in this time of the luke-warm church of Laodicea as well as much deception. The question is always, “What does THE WORD say about that?” (of course, with the unction of the Holy Spirit leading)…..
Keep up the good work, and of also purging the technology addiction. When I read your post, I felt the Holy Spirit wash over me as if to indicate affirmation!

  19. Hello Nathan . . .
It is sad, but the most important thing is for each professing Christian to read the Bible, as the Holy Spirit leads. Some may be “camped” on a book for quite some time, as he/she absorbs what the Holy Spirit is teaching from that book.

I have to say I have never gone from cover to cover, in order, in the Bible . . . what the Holy Spirit has done with me is highlight what He wants me to focus on, which may not be from Book-to-Book.

Others, may be lead to read from cover-to-cover. . . starting from Genesis. Others. . . starting from Matthew, going to The Book of Revelation, then over to Genesis.

So, I too am still DAILY working on the reading of the written Word. This post is to challenge my walk with the LORD as well.

Now, here’s my personal challenge: I picked up an inexpensive paperback Bible, that provides 365 days of reading through the Bible. I plan on using that to help me read through the Bible as an exercise of disciple in my walk with the LORD. What I must be aware of, however, is to not get into a “religious exercise” with it, where it becomes a chore and the anointing of the Holy Spirit is not there.

Soooo . . here we go, a day-to-day, step-by-step walk with the LORD Jesus. May it be ALIVE and real for each of us, rather than an exercise in religious activity.

Blessings to you and thank you for stopping by.

  20. Thank you for that info, Peggy. I know I’m still working on the discipline of DAILY reading the Bible. It’s a choice, just like working on any relationship is a choice.

What I also recommend is for people to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to them what He meant when He inspired the original writers of the Bible . . this brings the written word ALIVE in ways that were not there before. Sometimes one verse can take on a depth that lasts all day . . . a full banquet sometimes in few words, but when the anointing of the Holy Spirit rises up on those written words . . POWERFUL.

As I mentioned to Nathan, I have not done a cover-to-cover review of the Bible, but read as led. I did pick up a 365 day reading through the Bible . . . to help me with my disciplined walk with the LORD. I’m also going to be aware that this does not turn into a “religious activity” without anointing. So, this post was also to challenge my walk with the LORD, in the reading of His Word. . . in greater measures than ever before.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing

  21. Amen! I am not happy to report that I never bothered to read my Bible until this year as it finally hit me that I cannot claim to know the Lord if I have never even read his word through. I had started with the New Testament and now I am almost finished with the Old (reading Ezekiel now). I am looking forward to finishing up the Old Testament and starting the new again.

But yes, So many professing Christians have never bothered to read though the Lords Word completely and it is quite sad.

I agree with Jolie on there being so many things that distract us. I work in IT and was majorly addicted to technology. I have had to purge and remove most of the computer technology that I owned so that I could focus more on the Lord.

  22. EXCELLENT post, once again! Thanks so much for all you do, Linda!

I am so thankful that in summer of 2012, I read a short, wonderful little book called “Heaven Rules” by Faye Aldridge. The book was published in December 2012, and is available on amazon.com. The Lord gave her the contents of the book “for such a time as this.” It provides motivation to read the Bible cover to cover in less than 90 days. The purpose is to “saturate” yourself in THE WORD. It is called the “ABC Challenge” (Accelerated Bible Challenge).
NOTE: It is a separate “exercise,” not meaning to replace individual pondering or studying smaller amounts of Scripture.

This is my 8th time going through the Bible cover to cover in less than 90 days since summer of 2012.
I’ve used various translations such as “The Amplified,” “The New Living Translation,” “The Message,” and “The New King James.” This time, I hope to finish the entire challenge in 55 days.

Four of the times, I did while working full time. The neat thing is that this forms a HABIT. It feeds “The Spirit-Man,” and therefore helps to subdue “the flesh.” Sincere prayers are answered. Best of all, you get to know God a little more each time. Also, I believe that God honors the OBEDIENCE of our reading HIS WORD DAILY; many times doing so FIRST THING. (Doesn’t God deserve a tithe of our time during the day to be reading HIS WORD?)

I also gave a copy of the book to a friend in 2012 and she is now on her 8th time through, while working full time. She gets up early each day to get her pages read. She has seen good results. She says that she well NEVER stop “The Challenge.” As soon as she finishes, she starts AGAIN!

I gave a copy to another friend, who actually completed “The Challenge” in about 70 days. She was amazed to have several short “visions,” and also to have heard the voice of the Lord briefly at various time, but with RHEMA Words for her. Some prior interests in watching TV and even specific programs on TV “fell away.” A new conviction to watch carefully the words that she spoke also gripped her.

I believe that The Lord gives each person exactly what he or she needs as a result of doing this. Each person is unique. In my case, I was absolutely delighted to notice just a few days into my reading the FIRST time, evidence of the Holy Spirit washing over me. It was “very cool.” Also, certain passages in the Old Testament would “jump out” at me. They seemed to be showing me that they were meant for America TODAY. It felt like you could substitute “Israel” and insert “America,” making it (sadly) applicable.

Once again, I HIGHLY recommend this little book as a “primer” to jump-start a person to encounter God in His Holy WORD. And of course, since “time is short,” I would not delay!

    { If you look at the cover of the book, it is black (for the darkness). The title is in bright white (for the LIGHT shining in the darkness). The red line at the top is for THE BLOOD OF JESUS.}
